2011 Season God’s blessings are available to us always. We just don’t notice that they are there until we take a look back. This season was different in spirit. You girls were a joy to coach. I can’t thank you enough for your smiles and encouragement. I’m thankful for God’s loving-kindness He sent my way through Coach Broere and this team. We just had fun together.
After learning from our first loss, we had a strong start to the season. We won against Barnes by one run at the last at bat by our short stop. We would see good things happen against the stronger teams, but they just wouldn’t happen at the same time. |

It came down to playing Barnes again in order to progress to the playoffs. It was made clear to the team that if we didn’t want to travel to Open Bible, we had to win. Whether or not that spurred them on, we won! At our first at bat we were up by five. We had worked on defending the bunt, and we saw a couple of beautiful plays made with our catcher catching one of those bunts to end the game.
After another win against Byne, we moved on to the playoffs against Appling. In our first game the team played timidly. We lost by a good margin. We talked as a team and reminded ourselves that we leave everything on the field and perform how we have practiced. The girls stepped up defensively. We lost by only 3 in that second game. We saw perseverance by our pitcher who was sore and pop ups being caught that weren’t being caught before. Even though it was a loss, the girls finished well.
There were overall improvements made by each player. Some had to take on positions that were brand new. Some owned their former position and were moving to the ball much faster than in years past. Also, we worked harder on our swing. By that last game, most were getting a bat on the ball against a fast pitcher, even if it was at the cost of one our coaches. J
Thank you, girls, for a very enjoyable season! And thank you always, parents, for your support, company, snacks, pictures, but maybe not so much for the water balloons. - Meagan Stowe

Softball Teams Wins Title
I could not have asked for a better team to coach my first year. They all were encouraging and supportive. I'm so thankful for the infield players for being the backbone and the leaders of the team, and for winning the mental battle during our last championship game. I'm also thankful for the outfield, for their patience, and for being willing to learn how to improve their game by asking questions. A huge thank you to Mrs. Broere for all of her help this season, for coaching and covering practices while I was away, for being my “voice”, and for her advice and listening ear. Thanks to Coach Rossiter for his time and for answering my many questions. The “Batting Title” this season was given to the player who has the highest batting average, Stephanie Wright. Stephanie hit two homeruns for us in the championship game, one of which included a grand slam! The “Gold Glove,” went to a player who moved quickly to the ball and would not let them get past her, Melo Mullis. Melo was also a responsible and encouraging leader, and she did a great job as the cut off person. The "Christian Character Award" was given to a young lady who possessed a Christ like spirit on and off the field, Kymberly Murray. Kymberly kept an upbeat attitude throughout the whole season no matter what the circumstances and worked hard to keep her teammates encouraged as well. An example of this is she was nicknamed “butter” at the beginning of the season. Being the upbeat person she is, she turned the nickname around saying, “they call me butter because I’m on a roll.” Thanks again girls for a fun season. We will miss you, seniors, and I pray that you will always seek God first for every decision you make. - Meagan Stowe
