BBCS maintains an athletic program that includes golf, soccer, volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, baseball and softball, all geared towards building Christian character through sports. The school competes with other Christian schools throughout Georgia under the direction of the Georgia Christian Athletic Association. Athletes must maintain a C average with no F grades and no unsatisfactory citizenship grades. BBCS cheerleaders are selected from those qualifying for tryouts. To be eligible for qualification, one must have a good Christian testimony and maintain the same scholastic record as one participating in athletics.
Athletics
Athletics plays an important role in the character building process of a Christian school. Within each sport, students experience moments that are true to life, when they must choose to react in a manner that is pleasing to self or pleasing to God.
BBCS teams have chosen to work together instead of individually, and this teamwork has paid off. The Lady Eagles volleyball team has been the state champions for the past two seasons. Despite a year of rebuilding, the 2010 team made it to the play-offs this year through the guidance of Coach Rossiter.
The boys basketball team, also in the middle of rebuilding, took second in the state last season with the help of Coach Estes. This season the team, no matter what the skill level, is exhibiting a determination not to quit. With that quality they will succeed.
The girl basketball teams through Coach Larson’s leadership have stepped up their level of play with the addition of some new players. Their games have proven to be very exciting this season.
The cheerleaders under the direction of Christine Rossiter have won the state championship the past two seasons, and we won again this year!
The softball team led by Coach Stowe has grown in ability season by season since switching to fast-pitch. We are anxious to see what will take place this season after the team won their region in 2010.
The baseball team coached by Bob Rossiter had a successful season last year, taking second place at state. This season will prove to be a rebuilding time but not without hard work and excitement as the guys gear up for the coming season.
